UKZN PhD student and Country Director for Google South Africa, Dr Alistair Mokoena has published a book.

Mokoena is studying towards a Doctor of Business Administration degree at the University’s Graduate School of Business and Leadership.

The book titled: Servings of Self-Mastery is packed with bite-sized reminders of the greatness within individuals, together with the tools to unlock potential and abundance in all aspects of life. It is a book that is written with love and compassion to help one thrive.

‘I wrote this book as a gift to anyone who aspires to achieve self-mastery. It was also a way of scaling my mentorship and coaching of others. The problems we face in society are human-made and so it will take humans to solve them. If we all invest in improving ourselves by pursuing self-mastery, the world will be a better place – one personal transformation at a time.

‘Self-mastery is the pinnacle of self-effectiveness, a reset button that puts you back in control of your life and helps you make healthy choices in both your personal and professional life. For those who have experienced anxiety, loss, self-doubt, confusion, procrastination, helplessness, lack of self-control and impatience, then this book is for you,’ said Mokoena.

Mokoena is a seasoned marketing and advertising professional with a PhD in Business Administration, an MBA, and a Chartered Marketer qualification. He has over 25 years of corporate experience in various roles and industries, including FMCG, banking, media, and technology.

He is currently conducting his doctoral research at the GSB&L about the adoption of marketing automation tools by impact tech start-ups.

‘I am passionate about personal development principles because it cuts across our personal and professional lives, even leaders of start-ups need to be on top of self-mastery for them to overcome the challenges of entrepreneurship,’ he said.
